Amazon rolled out markdowns across Apple's computer lineup on October 7, trimming costs across several current-generation laptops and desktops. The promotions arrived at the close of the retailer's October Prime Day event, erasing portions of the hardware price hikes Apple instituted back in June.
MacBook Air and Pro Discounts
The M5 MacBook Air lineup received direct $200 markdowns in the United States. Following the summer price increases, Apple sells the 13-inch base laptop for $1,299 and the 15-inch model for $1,499. When Macworld tracked the promotions on October 7, Amazon listed the 15-inch M5 MacBook Air with 16GB of unified memory and a 512GB solid-state drive at $1,299. In the United Kingdom, where the models regularly retail at £1,299 and £1,499 respectively, the 13-inch Air configured with 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM was listed at £1,465, reflecting a £134 reduction. The M5 Air machines debuted in March 2026 and are not projected to see replacements until 2027.
Higher-tier laptops saw steeper adjustments. Amazon listed the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage at $1,839 in the US on Wednesday. Select configurations carrying M5 Pro and M5 Max silicon had price reductions reaching up to $600. Across the Atlantic, the 14-inch model with an M5 Pro chip and 1TB drive was listed at £2,249.97, down £249 from its regular British sticker. Buyers holding out for potential form-factor updates may want to watch for rumors pointing to a redesigned MacBook Pro before the end of 2026.
