Amazon's fall Prime Day sale is in its final hours. The event, which Amazon officially brands Prime Big Deal Days, is set to close at midnight Pacific time, according to 9to5Toys, which has been tracking the sale's biggest tech and home discounts throughout the event.
This year's fall edition was shorter than Amazon's summer Prime Day, which ran a full four days. There's no confirmation that fresh deals will land in these last few hours, but plenty of discounts that went live earlier in the week are still active, and shoppers have until the midnight cutoff to act on most of them.
Amazon's pattern in past years offers a bit of a safety net. Some deals have carried into the early morning hours after the official close, and a handful have stuck around for the rest of the week even after Prime Day technically ends. There's no guarantee that happens again this time, so anyone eyeing a specific discount should check now rather than assume it'll still be there tomorrow.
Shoppers who miss the window, or who simply want to keep comparing prices, still have options. Best Buy's own Techtober sale has been running in parallel with Prime Day, covering Apple hardware, Android phones, smart home gear and more, and it's continuing to add deals even as Amazon's event winds down. Walmart launched a competing fall sale of its own, spanning Apple products, TVs, LEGO sets and other home goods, and that one is scheduled to run through Sunday, giving latecomers a few extra days to shop around.
The back-to-back, sometimes overlapping sale events have become something of an annual ritual. Amazon kicks off a Prime-exclusive push, and Best Buy and Walmart respond almost immediately with their own version aimed at anyone without a Prime membership, or anyone who simply wants to cross-shop before committing. For a lot of shoppers, that overlap is the real advantage of this stretch of the year. It's less about catching Amazon's event the moment it opens and more about having several days where three major retailers are all discounting the same categories at once.
What happens next is mostly a matter of inertia. Amazon's event closes, whatever deals linger will linger, and Best Buy and Walmart carry the sale season into the weekend. Expect another round of coverage once Walmart and Best Buy wrap their own events, and expect the next big Amazon sale push to land around the usual holiday shopping calendar later in the year.
