Amazon Prime is handing out ten free PC games across October, led by the 2016 reboot of Doom. The giveaway runs alongside the platform's regular monthly slate and comes with a notable perk: once claimed, the titles remain yours permanently, even if your subscription lapses.
That setup differs sharply from console plans like Sony's PlayStation Plus, where claimed titles lock up the moment a membership expires. Amazon distributes its free PC downloads through external storefronts like GOG and the Epic Games Store, issuing redeemable keys tied to your personal accounts on those services.
The October Free PC Roster
The marquee drop is id Software's 2016 Doom, which revived the fast-paced demon shooter after years on hiatus. Subscribers who missed previous drops can also still pick up the original Doom, Doom II, and Doom Eternal, which remain available to claim for an unspecified limited window.
Amazon rotates its gaming benefits into two parallel tracks each month. One covers download codes you own outright, while the other lands on Amazon Luna, the company's cloud gaming platform.
Fresh Additions to Amazon Luna
For cloud streaming, the Luna Standard catalogue picked up Sega's Sonic X Shadow Generations. The release pairs a remastered edition of 2011's Sonic Generations — mixing both 2D and 3D stages, with a standalone campaign starring Shadow the Hedgehog. Luna also added Space Metal Mania, an arcade shooter, alongside Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
Those new titles join existing Luna catalog offerings like Remedy's Control and Kojima Productions' Death Stranding. Because Luna streams directly from Amazon servers, subscribers do not need dedicated hardware or storage space to play through that side of the catalog.
Subscribers can claim the PC redemption codes and launch the streaming catalog directly through the Amazon Luna hub throughout the month.
