Apple's Pro and Tell event begins Wednesday, October 28, at 10 AM PT, which works out to 1 PM ET and 5 PM GMT. Apple has not given a separate India start time, so anyone watching from India will need to work out the local hour from those zones.

The event caps a run of Apple announcements this week. The company has already unveiled the iPad Mini with an 8.5-inch OLED screen and the A20 chip, along with M6-powered versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the 24-inch iMac. Pro and Tell is expected to be the week's centerpiece, with persistent rumors pointing to Apple's first touchscreen MacBook.

There's no separate paid tier for this one. Apple is streaming Pro and Tell on its own website and through the Apple TV app, which is preloaded on iPhones, iPads and Macs and also available on smart TVs and streaming boxes that support it. No subscription or Apple TV+ account is required to watch a keynote.

What to expect

The headline rumor is a touchscreen MacBook, something Steve Jobs reportedly dismissed as "ergonomically terrible" back in 2010. Reports ahead of the event point to OLED MacBook models in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, which would be a significant break from the LCD and mini-LED panels Apple currently uses across the MacBook range. Apple has not confirmed a touchscreen laptop or specified any hardware for it, so all of that remains speculation until the event itself.

If it happens, it would mark the first time Apple has brought touch input to macOS directly, after years of keeping that feature exclusive to the iPhone and iPad. An OLED switch would also bring deeper blacks and higher contrast than the current MacBook displays offer, at least based on how OLED has performed on the iPad Mini and iPhone lines.

The event follows Apple's "Welcome Home" showcase a few days earlier, which covered new smart home products, and a Creator Studio software update that added AI tools to Final Cut Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Pages and Numbers. Those app updates are expected to roll out in November and will be free for subscribers.

For now, the touchscreen MacBook claim stays a rumor. Apple's keynote on October 28 is where that gets confirmed or shot down, and the livestream is free to watch for anyone with an internet connection.
