Apple has brought the iMac 2026 to India, and the headline number is the chip inside it. The M6 is Apple's first processor built on 2-nanometre process technology, a manufacturing jump the company says delivers a real leap in AI performance over what came before.
The new all-in-one starts at Rs 1,74,900 for a configuration with a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory and 256GB of storage. Step up to the 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU variant and the price moves to Rs 1,99,900. Buyers can configure up to 32GB of memory and 2TB of storage depending on what they need.
Apple is making a specific claim about the M6's AI chops. According to the company, running local AI workloads in LM Studio on the new iMac is up to 12 times faster than on an iMac fitted with the original M1 chip, and up to five times faster than on an M4 model. Those are Apple's own figures tied to a specific benchmark tool, not independent lab numbers, so treat them as the company's marketing claim rather than a settled performance ranking.
The screen is a 24-inch 4.5K Retina panel running at 4,480x2,250 pixels with 500 nits of peak brightness, aimed at photo editing, video work and everyday document use. Apple is also offering its nano-texture matte glass option on the display, which comes at an added cost over the standard glossy finish.
The iMac 2026 ships with macOS 27, which Apple calls Golden Gate internally, and carries the full Apple Intelligence suite along with Siri's AI features baked in. Up front sits a 12-megapixel camera with Center Stage, which keeps a user framed during video calls, and it supports 1080p recording.
On connectivity, the machine gets Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, 2.5 gigabit Ethernet and up to four Thunderbolt ports, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack that Apple has kept around on the iMac even as it has vanished from iPhones. The desktop works with Apple's Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad, sold either bundled or separately depending on the configuration chosen.
Color options run wider than the usual two or three finishes Apple offers on other hardware: blue, green, orange, pink, purple, silver and yellow are all listed for the India launch.
Bookings for the new iMac are open now through Apple's India channels, with the machine going on sale from November 6. Pricing and availability details beyond what Apple has published have not been shared, so configurations above the base 32GB and 2TB options, if any exist, aren't confirmed yet.
