Galaxy S27 Ultra Battery Leak Points To Biggest Jump Over S26 Ultra Yet

A Safety Korea certification shows the batteries inside the unannounced Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, backing up earlier leaks that put the Ultra's cell well above last year's model.

Samsung hasn't announced the Galaxy S27 series yet, but its batteries just got a public airing anyway. Safety Korea, the country's consumer product safety agency, has certified battery packs bearing model numbers EB-BS957CBY and EB-BS958DBY, which correspond to the Galaxy S27 Pro (SM-S957) and Galaxy S27 Ultra (SM-S958), according to GSMArena and SamMobile, which cited certification numbers YU10899-26034 and YU10899-26036 and credited the find to NotebookCheck.

The listings include photos of the batteries, both built by Zhuhai CosMX Power in China, but the capacity printed on the cells isn't legible in the images. That's not really a problem, since both capacities leaked back in July and were separately certified by China's 3C agency in September.

The Galaxy S27 Pro's battery carries a rated capacity of 5,087 mAh, which both outlets expect Samsung to market as 5,200 mAh typical. The Galaxy S27 Ultra's cell is rated at 5,534 mAh. Here the two reports diverge slightly on the marketed figure: GSMArena puts the likely typical capacity at 5,700 mAh, while SamMobile expects 5,800 mAh. Either way, it would be the largest battery Samsung has fitted to an Ultra phone.

Samsung has kept its Ultra models at a 5,000 mAh typical capacity for several generations running. A jump to 5,700 or 5,800 mAh would be a 14 to 16 percent increase, depending on whose number lands closer. The Pro's bump over the outgoing Galaxy S26+ is smaller, in the range of 4 to 6 percent by the two outlets' math.

GSMArena also reports that Samsung tested a 7,000 mAh prototype cell during development before settling on something smaller, reportedly to preserve room for the S Pen slot inside the Ultra's chassis. That detail hasn't been confirmed by Samsung, and it's worth treating as unconfirmed until the company says otherwise.

On charging, both phones are certified for 60W wired charging, the same ceiling the Galaxy S26 Ultra carries. SamMobile adds that 25W wireless charging is also expected to carry over. None of that points to a charging speed upgrade, so any battery life gains would come purely from the bigger cell rather than faster top-ups.

Timing is still the open question. GSMArena notes a recent report suggesting Samsung may return to its traditional January or February Unpacked slot for the S27 line, after last year's event landed later in the calendar. SamMobile is less specific, saying only that the series is expected early next year.

Neither outlet has capacity figures confirmed by Samsung itself, and the safety certification only proves the batteries exist and match the model numbers tied to the S27 Pro and Ultra. The actual mAh rating Samsung puts on the spec sheet, and whatever price tag comes with it, won't be official until Unpacked.
