JBL's Live Buds 3 earbuds were listed at $115 on Amazon, down from a $200 MSRP, when Android Police reported the 42% markdown on Saturday.
The headline feature is the case itself. A 1.45-inch screen sits on the front of it, letting someone adjust EQ settings, check battery levels or tweak noise cancellation without pulling out a phone. JBL has put displays on earbud cases before, and Android Police noted it has reviewed earlier versions of that format and come away satisfied, though the outlet said it has not spent time with this specific model.
Inside each earbud, JBL fits a 10mm dynamic driver, and the pair uses adaptive noise cancellation that's meant to adjust to ambient sound levels on its own rather than relying on a single fixed mode. Call quality is handled by six beamforming microphones, a count aimed at isolating a voice from background noise in places like train platforms or coffee shops.
Battery life is rated at 10 hours per charge from the earbuds alone, with the case adding roughly 30 more hours on top of that, for a combined stretch of around 40 hours before anything needs a wall outlet. None of those figures come from independent testing here. They're JBL's own specifications, passed along as reported.
At $115, the Live Buds 3 land in a price band crowded with noise-cancelling earbuds from Sony, Samsung and Beats, most of which skip the case screen entirely. Whether that display is worth paying for depends on how much a buyer actually wants to manage settings without reaching for an app. For some people, a screen on a charging case is a novelty. For others, it's a genuine shortcut.
The discount was live on Amazon at the time Android Police published its report late Saturday into early Sunday. Retail prices on earbuds swing often, especially once a product enters its second year on shelves, so there's no guarantee the $115 price holds through the week. Anyone eyeing the deal should check the current Amazon listing before assuming the cut is still active.
JBL has not said whether a Live Buds 4 is coming or when this generation might see an official price cut from the company itself rather than a retailer markdown. For now, the Live Buds 3 remain JBL's flagship take on the display-equipped case, and this is the cheapest they've been reported to sell for since launch.
