Amazon is selling the 55-inch LG C6 OLED TV for $999.99, down from its $1,999.99 list price. That's a straight 50 percent cut, and TechRadar, which tracked the listing on Saturday, says it's the lowest the set has sold for since it launched.
The timing is the interesting part. Retailers usually hold their steepest television discounts for Black Friday, which is still more than a month out. TechRadar's deals desk said it would normally tell readers to wait, but a cut this size on a TV this well regarded was hard to pass up. The outlet also said it doesn't expect the price to fall much further once November sales actually start.
LG's C-series sits in the middle of its OLED lineup, below the flagship G-series but above the entry-level B-series, and the C6 is the newest version. TechRadar currently ranks it first on its best TV guide and gave it a full five-star review, writing that it is "a worthy successor to, and upgrade over, the LG C5," the model it replaces.
Specs-wise, the set carries four HDMI 2.1 ports and supports 4K resolution at up to 165Hz, numbers that matter mainly to people pairing it with a gaming PC or a current-generation console. TechRadar's review praised the panel's contrast, color and motion handling, and said its processor does solid work refining lower-quality streaming sources. The built-in speakers, per that review, are better than most TVs manage, though the outlet still recommends a separate soundbar for serious viewing.
An OLED panel means each pixel lights up on its own, which is why these screens tend to produce deeper blacks and sharper contrast than the LED-backlit sets that dominate the budget end of the market. That's the main reason OLED TVs usually carry a price premium even at the 55-inch size, which makes a sub-$1,000 listing notable regardless of the calendar.
No Indian pricing or availability for the C6 has been reported alongside this Amazon listing, so there's nothing to compare it against locally yet. Shoppers outside the US will need to watch their own regional retailers for equivalent OLED discounts as the holiday sales season builds.
Whether $999.99 holds past the weekend is anyone's guess. Deal prices on Amazon move fast, and TechRadar's own report was framed as a snapshot of what the listing showed when it checked, not a guarantee. Anyone eyeing the C6 as an early Black Friday buy should treat the current price as temporary and confirm it before checking out.
