Capcom's mobile take on Monster Hunter has a release date. Monster Hunter Outlanders launches on iOS and Android on October 29, 2026, with pre-registration already open on the App Store and Google Play. A mainland China version is scheduled to follow in 2027.

The game comes from TiMi Studio Group, the Tencent subsidiary behind titles like Honor of Kings, working under license from Capcom. Capcom supervised development and the two companies first announced the project back in November 2024, so this has been nearly two years in the making.

Outlanders is a free-to-play open-world survival game set on a continent called Aesoland, split into biomes that include forests, swamps and deserts. Getting around involves a glider, a grappling hook, climbing and swimming, and players can drop launchers, ziplines and gliding stations to speed up travel for themselves or their group.

What hunters get at launch

Seven weapon types are listed on the official site at launch: Great Sword, Long Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Lance, Heavy Bowgun and Bow. Producer Dong Huang has also confirmed the Charge Blade will be playable from day one, bringing the launch roster to eight. Huang and Capcom's Ryozo Tsujimoto both say more monsters, weapons and areas are coming in future updates, which tracks with how Capcom has supported the mainline console games for years.

There are two control schemes, one built for series veterans and one aimed at players coming to Monster Hunter for the first time on a phone. There's no auto-combat option, which separates it from a lot of mobile action games that let the game fight itself. The launch build also introduces an original monster not seen in the mainline series: an Elder Dragon called Ruger Aidal.

Real-time co-op supports parties of up to four hunters, with guild and fixed-team structures for players who want to hunt with the same group regularly. Every hunter is paired with a buddy, including the Palico companions longtime fans will recognize.

Publishing varies by region. Garena will handle Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, while Level Infinite, Tencent's global publishing arm, has also been promoting the title elsewhere.

Outlanders is free-to-play, with Adventurers obtained through gacha-style pulls, so monetization will likely draw the usual scrutiny mobile gacha games get. Beta-era guidance pegs Android requirements at Android 12, 8GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 888 or equivalent chip, while iOS needs an iPhone 12 or newer on iOS 17. The App Store listing shows a 3.6GB initial download, though closed beta testers have reported builds closer to 40GB once everything downloads. Those hardware and size figures come from beta testing, so the numbers on the final store pages at launch may shift.

With pre-registration live now, the next marker to watch is whether Capcom and TiMi hit October 29 as planned, and how quickly the promised post-launch content starts rolling in.
