Smart lighting rarely comes cheap, especially when the Philips Hue name is stamped on the packaging. A four-pack of Philips Hue Essential smart bulbs was listed at $44.97 on Amazon when TechRadar reported the discount on Wednesday evening, down from its regular $59.99 list price.
That works out to roughly $11.24 per bulb. For shoppers in the UK, TechRadar reported that the multi-pack dropped to under £11 per bulb, recovering from a brief pricing hike up to £64 the week prior back toward its typical £45 level. The outlet pointed out that while plenty of other Hue lamps and bulbs appeared in the Prime Day catalogue, most had seen steeper markdowns in earlier retail cycles, leaving this entry-level bundle as the primary standout.
Philips launched the Hue Essential line to give buyers a cheaper entry point into its connected lighting ecosystem. The standard White and Color Ambiance units carry a considerable premium, which quickly multiplies when you try to outfit an entire apartment ceiling or several desk fixtures at once. Essential units work within that same software umbrella, allowing buyers to link them to schedules, app controls and voice assistants without swapping out their primary smart home platforms.
