Samsung Galaxy S26 FE launches globally at a higher price than last year’s S25 FE — €50 more in Europe, $100 more in the US, with almost no hardware changes beyond the chipset. The Fan Edition line’s value proposition is now strained: same 6.7-inch OLED display, same Gorilla Glass Victus+ front and back, same Enhanced Armor Aluminum frame, same 8GB RAM + 128GB base storage, same triple-camera array (50MP main with GN3 sensor, 8MP telephoto upscaled to 12MP, 12MP ultrawide), same 45W wired charging, same stereo speakers, same software support promise. Seven years of major OS upgrades, but one critical cut: wired DeX is gone. DisplayPort output has been removed. Wireless DeX remains. That’s it. No new sensors. No battery bump. No design revision beyond a 3g weight increase and negligible width/height tweaks. Colors shift. Blueberry, Graphite, Pistachio replace Icyblue, Jetblack, Navy, White, but that’s cosmetic, not functional. The Exynos 2500 SoC delivers measurable gains: 16% faster CPU performance, nearly 25% better GPU scores in 3DMark Wild Life, and real-world endurance lift in web browsing and video streaming. But GSMArena notes the difference “may go unnoticed if you are not really into gaming.” Charging speed? Marginally quicker to 15 and 30 minutes, but only two minutes faster to full. Not meaningful. And memory pricing pressure forced the hike, not feature expansion. So who’s paying more for less? Not early adopters. Not power users. Just people who want the latest FE badge, and who don’t rely on wired DeX. Meanwhile, in India, the older Galaxy S25 Ultra is dropping hard: ₹84,999 on Amazon Great Indian Festival, down from its ₹1,29,999 launch price. That’s a ₹45,000 cut. Plus ₹500 SBI Bank discount, plus up to ₹36,050 exchange value. Stock is limited. The S26 FE isn’t available in India yet. No launch date or pricing has been announced there. In the US and Europe, it’s live, but priced like a minor refresh, not a new generation. The S25 FE still ships with the same specs, same camera, same screen, same battery. And costs less. It also retains wired DeX. Samsung hasn’t said when the S26 FE arrives in India. Or why it launched without addressing the very thing that made the FE line distinct: value.
