Amazon was selling the Samsung S700D soundbar for $398 when SoundGuys flagged the price on Tuesday, down from the model's $549.99 list price. That's a 28% cut, or about $151 off, on a soundbar built specifically for people who hung a thin TV on a wall and immediately missed having real speakers.

That's the whole pitch here. Slim televisions look good. They do not sound good. Samsung's S700D is a 2024 release aimed squarely at that gap, pairing a slender 3.1-channel bar with a wireless subwoofer so you get some low-end punch without running a cable across the living room floor.

The bar supports Wireless Dolby Atmos, Samsung's name for the object-based surround format that's supposed to make movies and games feel like sound is coming from above and around you rather than just the front of the room. Whether it delivers that depends on the room and the content, but it's the same format used across far pricier home theater gear.

Samsung has also loaded the S700D with its usual pile of house features. Q-Symphony lets the soundbar work alongside a compatible Samsung TV's own speakers rather than just replacing them, at least on newer Samsung sets. SpaceFit Sound Pro is pitched as automatic room tuning. Adaptive Sound is meant to keep dialogue intelligible when the mix gets busy, and Game Mode Pro targets the low-latency audio that gamers want when timing matters.

Connectivity covers both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, along with streaming and voice assistant support that varies by setup and region. None of that is unusual for a 2026-era soundbar in this price range, but it does mean the S700D isn't a bare-bones box pretending to be a deal.

At $398, the S700D undercuts a lot of competing slim soundbars with wireless subwoofers and Atmos support, several of which still list above $500 even on sale. Whether that gap holds depends entirely on how long Amazon keeps the price where it is.

As with any retailer listing, this one is a snapshot. SoundGuys reported the $398 price as of its Tuesday evening story, and nothing stops Amazon from raising it back toward the $549.99 list price, or dropping it further, without notice. Anyone shopping this should check the live listing before assuming the number holds.

Samsung has not announced a direct successor to the S700D, so for now this remains the company's current slim Atmos option for owners of thin-profile TVs looking for sound to match.
