Free options

In the U.S., ABC airs season 2 over-the-air, no subscription needed if you have a digital TV antenna. The same applies in Canada, where CTV broadcasts the premiere free-to-air at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Both networks also carry the show on their respective linear feeds through traditional cable and satellite providers.

Streaming platforms like YouTube TV and Sling TV offer free trials, letting viewers access ABC or CTV live without long-term commitment. Though those are paid services after the trial period ends. Hulu carries episodes the day after broadcast, but requires a subscription. Crave in Canada follows the same next-day pattern and starts at CA$11.99 per month with ads.

What to expect

Season 2 kicks off with Ryan Philippe’s Rouge Kelly, an ex-NYPD homicide detective now stationed in Music City. Stepping into a high-stakes investigation that quickly escalates beyond standard procedure. His first call brings him face-to-face with Don (Chris O’Donnell) and the team during a swarming incident at a high-profile gala, where murder hornets descend in alarming numbers.

That event proves to be only the opening salvo in what Tom’s Guide describes as “a campaign of attacks mimicking the seven plagues of Egypt.” Subsequent calls include reports of blood flooding basement levels and outbreaks of painful boils across the city, themes that suggest a multi-episode arc rooted in escalating, surreal threat. Elsewhere, the emotional fallout from Blythe’s (Jessica Capshaw) and Dixie’s (LeAnn Rimes) physical confrontation reverberates through Don and Blythe’s marriage, adding domestic tension to the procedural stakes.

Tom’s Guide notes the season “sounds like a wild start,” with action-driven storytelling likely to stretch across several episodes. While the exact episode count remains unconfirmed, early reporting suggests season 2 may run 18 episodes. Though that figure is not official. There is no word yet on whether the season will follow the same weekly Thursday schedule throughout its run.

For now, the premiere is locked in: Thursday, October 15, at 9 p.m. ET/PT in North America. U.K. And Australian audiences must wait for Disney Plus to announce a date, none has been set.
