Acer added two 5G tablets to its Iconia lineup in India on Monday. The Iconia Tab 11 5G and Iconia Tab 12 5G both run the same MediaTek MT8755 octa-core chip, pack 8GB of RAM, and are aimed at people who want one device for work, classes and streaming, not three.
The smaller Iconia Tab 11 5G gets a 10.95-inch Full HD IPS panel at 1920 x 1200 resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate and up to 450 nits of peak brightness. It measures 261.74 x 177.68 x 7.95mm, which keeps the bezel-to-screen math reasonably tight for a device its size.
Step up to the Iconia Tab 12 5G and you get a 12.2-inch fully laminated IPS display with a sharper 2400 x 1600 resolution, the same 90Hz refresh rate, and a slightly lower peak brightness of 400 nits.
Both tablets use the MT8755 platform, which pairs two Cortex-A76 performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz with six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0GHz. Storage comes in 128GB or 256GB options, and Gadgets 360 reports both models support expandable storage alongside fingerprint recognition, a feature not always found on tablets at this tier.
Camera-wise, both devices carry an 8MP front sensor for video calls, though the rear camera setups differ between the two models according to Acer's own listing. Neither FoneArena nor Gadgets 360 has published Indian pricing or a sale date for either tablet as of this report.
Acer is leaning on accessories to push these past pure media-consumption duty. Both the Iconia Tab 11 5G and Iconia Tab 12 5G support an optional stylus and a keyboard flip cover with built-in docking, turning either tablet into something closer to a notebook when the keyboard is attached.
Availability differs slightly by model. The Iconia Tab 11 5G will be sold through Flipkart and the Acer e-store. The Iconia Tab 12 5G gets a wider spread, landing on Flipkart, Amazon, Acer Exclusive stores and the Acer Online Store.
"The expansion of our Iconia Tab portfolio reflects our focus on bringing more versatile and connected devices to consumers as their expectations from tablets continue to evolve," said Sudhir Goel, Chief Business Officer at Acer India. He added that the new models give users "greater flexibility across work, learning and entertainment" with 5G connectivity and support for productivity accessories built in.
Acer hasn't said when exact pricing or sale dates will follow, which leaves an obvious gap for anyone deciding between these and rival 5G tablets from Lenovo or Samsung already on shelves in India. Until Acer confirms what either model will actually cost, the spec sheet is the only thing to go on.
