Alldocube iPlay 80 mini launches in Japan at ¥13,999 — an 8.7-inch Android tablet with 90Hz display, 4G LTE, and 5,850mAh battery. It’s on sale for $88 (at current exchange) until 12 November, bundled with case and screen protector. No global pricing or availability confirmed yet. The iPlay 80 mini is not a Samsung tablet, but it directly targets the same niche as the Galaxy Tab A9: compact, sub-$150 Android slates built for portability, not power.

Its 8.68-inch IPS panel matches the Tab A9’s 1,340 × 800 resolution but adds a 90Hz refresh rate and full lamination. Brightness is rated at 350 nits. Under the hood sits a Unisoc T610, two Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores, all capped at 1.8GHz, paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

MicroSD expansion goes up to 1TB. There’s no DisplayPort output, no stylus support, and no USB-C video-out capability mentioned. Battery is 5,850mAh, charging via 18W PD over USB-C. Cameras are basic: 5MP rear with autofocus, 2MP front. Connectivity covers dual-SIM 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, plus GPS/BeiDou/GLONASS, compass, ambient light and gravity sensors.

Dimensions: 212.1 × 124.8 × 7.8mm. Weight: 350g. It runs Android 16 out of the box, a detail that matters, since most tablets in this price bracket still ship with Android 14 or 15. Alldocube positions it as an everyday companion, not a productivity hub.

That fits: no keyboard accessory is announced, and there’s no mention of DeX-style desktop modes or multi-window enhancements beyond standard Android 16. For buyers comparing options, the iPlay 70 mini Ultra offers more horsepower, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, 144Hz display, but at a higher price point not disclosed in the report.

The Galaxy Tab A9 remains widely available in the US and India, though its MediaTek Helio G99 chip and 60Hz screen now look dated next to this new entrant’s specs. The launch promotion ends 12 November. After that, the tablet reverts to ¥19,999 ($126). Amazon Japan and Rakuten are the only confirmed retailers, for now.
