Amazon has dropped three new tablets in the US — Alexa Tablet 8, Alexa Tablet 11, and Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, and they’re priced to undercut Samsung’s Galaxy Tab lineup across the board. The move marks Amazon’s first serious push into the mid-range Android tablet market, and its first departure from Fire OS in over a decade. All three run Google-certified Android 16 with full Play Store access. A hard pivot from Amazon’s long-standing AOSP fork. They also get four years of software updates, a claim Samsung doesn’t match for its FE or A-series tablets in the US.

At $230, the Alexa Tablet 8 starts $70 below the Galaxy Tab A11+ (which sells for $300 in the US). It’s an 8-inch HD+ device with MediaTek Kompanio 540, up to 8GB RAM, and stereo speakers, but no fingerprint reader, no IP rating, and no stylus support. The Alexa Tablet 11 sits at $349, directly challenging the Galaxy Tab S10 FE (priced at $429). It adds a 11-inch 2.8K screen, 90Hz refresh rate, Dolby Atmos stereo, IP52 rating, and fingerprint sensor. But still uses the same Kompanio 540 chip that lags behind Samsung’s Exynos 1480 in real-world benchmarks cited by SamMobile.

The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is the real statement: $499, matching the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+’s US launch price but packing a 12-inch 2.8K 120Hz LCD, Dimensity 8400 SoC, quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, USB 3.2 Gen 1 with DisplayPort out, Wi-Fi 6E, and optional nanomatte anti-glare coating. It ships with no ads, unlike most Fire tablets. And supports official keyboard and stylus accessories. Samsung hasn’t confirmed the Tab S10 FE+’s exact specs publicly, but SamMobile identifies it as the Alexa 12 Pro’s direct competitor.

None of these tablets are launching in India yet. SamMobile notes no Indian pricing or availability, only US launch details. That leaves Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 FE+, Tab S10 FE, and Tab A11+ unchallenged in India for now, where those models retail at Rs 49,999, Rs 39,999, and Rs 24,999 respectively.

What changes isn’t just hardware. It’s the software contract. Android 16 + Play Store + four-year updates shifts the value equation. Samsung offers two years of major OS upgrades on its FE and A-series tablets in the US. Three years on the S-series. Amazon’s four-year promise applies across all three Alexa tablets. But SamMobile cautions that Samsung still holds advantages in after-sales service infrastructure and long-term software polish, neither of which Amazon has demonstrated at this tier.

Amazon begins shipping the Alexa Tablet 8 and Alexa Tablet 11 on October 15 in the US. The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro follows on November 5.
Amazon Alexa Tablets vs Samsung Galaxy Tab: Android 16, $230
