AMD and boutique PC builder Maingear are giving away a custom-themed gaming desktop to celebrate Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 crossing 12 million players since its September 2024 launch. The grand prize is a Maingear MG-1 Warhammer SM2 Edition, bundled with a copy of the game, carrying a combined estimated retail value of $3,417.
Ten runners-up won't get hardware. They'll each receive a game key for Space Marine 2, valued at roughly $60.
AMD hasn't published the exact specs of the giveaway machine. No processor, GPU, memory or storage figures have been confirmed for this particular build. The company has only said its value lines up with Maingear's existing MG-1 Diamond configuration, which pairs a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with a Radeon RX 9070 XT, 32 GB of DDR5 memory and a 2 TB SSD. Whether the Warhammer edition actually ships with that same hardware stack is unconfirmed.
The tie-in makes sense on paper. Space Marine 2 leans on AMD's FSR upscaling tech, and the giveaway doubles as a reminder that Team Red still wants gamers associating Radeon GPUs with the game's success rather than just Nvidia's.
Entry is open to anyone 18 or older in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ireland, India, New Zealand, Australia and Canada, with no purchase required. A handful of regions are carved out of eligibility: Quebec, the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia are excluded, likely over local sweepstakes rules.
AMD Gaming posted the contest on X, and entries run through AMD's official giveaway page. The window closes October 29, 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time, giving entrants roughly a week from today's date to sign up.
Milestone giveaways like this are becoming a standard marketing move for AMD, which has leaned on game-specific hardware promotions to push Ryzen and Radeon bundles alongside major titles. Space Marine 2's 12 million player count, reached two years after launch, puts it among the more durable licensed shooters of this console generation, helped along by Saber Interactive's steady stream of post-launch content drops.
For the eleven eventual winners, the prize lands at a moment when gaming PC prices have been climbing across the board, driven by GPU shortages and rising memory costs. A free MG-1 desktop with a current-generation Radeon card, if the Diamond-tier comparison holds, would be worth considerably more than its $3,417 estimate implies given where graphics card pricing sits heading into the holiday quarter.
Neither AMD nor Maingear has said when winners will be notified or how the single grand-prize recipient will be chosen from the pool of entrants. Full rules, including any additional restrictions, are listed on AMD's giveaway page rather than in the social media posts promoting the contest.
