Apple has released the third round of developer betas for its 2026 operating system updates — including iOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, and macOS Golden Gate 27.2, on October 5, 2026.
The move comes just two weeks after the second betas shipped and follows the stable rollout of iOS 27 on September 14. Apple skipped iOS 27.1 for general release: that version remains exclusive to the iPhone Duo, Apple’s first foldable, and is built around display-aware SDKs and simulator support introduced in Xcode 27.1 beta on September 18.
IOS 27.2 is positioned as the next broad update for all iPhones. Not just the Duo, and includes early testing of a overhauled Health app. As confirmed by MacRumors, this version introduces new Insights and Longevity tabs, plus a readiness score derived from sensor data collected by the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. Those models launched alongside iOS 27 and are the only watches currently certified to feed into the new scoring system.
The Health app changes were previewed during Apple’s September iPhone event but have not yet shipped to consumers. They remain in active development across the third beta cycle. No public-facing features beyond those have been confirmed in this release. 9to5Mac notes it will cover any newly discovered functionality in a dedicated follow-up.
WatchOS 27.2 is being tested in parallel, with identical Health app refinements. Developers can install the beta directly via Settings on compatible Apple Watches. TvOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2 are also included in today’s drop, though neither source discloses functional changes. MacRumors observes Apple is expected to launch a new Siri AI–powered Apple TV 4K before year-end, but no firmware or hardware details are tied to today’s betas.
The public beta of iOS 27.2 launched last month, meaning today’s third developer build likely incorporates feedback from early testers. Developer access remains gated: only registered Apple developers can download the betas through device Settings.
No timeline has been given for the final iOS 27.2 release. Apple typically ships point updates every six to eight weeks after major OS launches, suggesting a mid-November window is plausible. But unconfirmed.
This is not a feature announcement. It is a development milestone: Apple is validating infrastructure, compatibility, and user-facing logic ahead of wider deployment. The readiness score, Longevity tab, and cross-device Health sync represent the most concrete user-facing shift so far, and they hinge entirely on ownership of a Series 12 or Ultra 4 watch.
For users still on Series 10 or earlier, those features won’t appear. Even if iOS 27.2 installs successfully.
