Apple has set October 28 for a new media event in Los Angeles, just two weeks after its October 13 "Welcome Home" showcase, and this one carries the tagline "Pro and tell."
The invite-only event starts at 10 AM Pacific Time, which works out to 10:30 PM IST, and Apple's marketing chief Greg Joswiak has already teased it online, writing "Can't wait to pro and tell next week."
Unlike Apple's September keynotes, this one isn't expected to stream publicly. Apple is reportedly planning to brief invited journalists in person and let the news out through press releases and hands-on coverage rather than a stage presentation.
The headline act, if the rumors hold, is Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro. Reports point to redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch models with OLED screens, a thinner build, and a Dynamic Island style cutout borrowed from the iPhone. That would be a real departure for a laptop line that has leaned entirely on keyboard, trackpad and mouse input since the first PowerBook. Apple has not confirmed any of this.
The higher-end MacBook Pro models are tipped to run on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than the M6 silicon expected elsewhere in the Mac lineup, according to the reporting. A separate, more conventional 14-inch MacBook Pro built around the M6 chip is also expected, keeping the existing design and focusing on performance and efficiency rather than a screen overhaul.
OLED panels, if they show up, would bring deeper blacks and sharper contrast than the mini-LED displays on the current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro lineup.
Mac desktop and iPad mini refresh
The 24-inch iMac is expected to get the same M6 upgrade under the hood, with no major design changes beyond, possibly, new colour options.
The iPad mini is also due for a rework. Reports describe an OLED display, a newer A-series chip, and a redesigned speaker setup, alongside a front camera moved to the landscape edge so video calls look right when the tablet is held sideways. Water resistance has come up in some reports too, though that remains unverified.
None of this is official. Apple has not confirmed device names, specifications, pricing, or availability in India or anywhere else. Everything above traces back to pre-event reporting and should be read as such until Apple actually says something on October 28.
What happens next is straightforward. The event lands in eight days, and since Apple has skipped a public livestream this time, the first concrete details will likely surface through outlets briefed in person in Los Angeles rather than from Apple's own stage.
