Apple and LG are co-developing a line of smart home devices — including a doorbell, deadbolt lock, thermostat, and indoor/outdoor security cameras, with LG handling manufacturing and support. The products will carry the LG brand, not Apple’s, and are expected to launch next week, though availability is likely delayed by “at least a few more months”, per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reporting via Digit. They’re part of a broader Apple smart home expansion that includes a long-in-development hub device, an updated HomePod Mini, and a new Apple TV set-top box. None of which will be branded LG. The hub, in particular, is tipped to serve as the central controller for Apple’s ecosystem, including these third-party-branded accessories. No Indian pricing or launch timing has been disclosed for any of the LG-made devices, or the new Apple TV, HomePod Mini, or hub. Apple has not confirmed the partnership or product details. The devices are not replacements for Apple TV or HomePod. They’re additions to the HomeKit stack, designed to plug into Apple’s infrastructure while sitting on LG’s shelf. Pre-orders open nowhere yet. Shipments begin nowhere yet. But the roadmap is now public: October 13 is the announced date for Apple’s event. And the first place we’ll hear how much of this actually ships.
