Citizen has expanded its comic book lineup with a Doctor Doom timepiece priced at $495 on its US storefront. Carrying model number AW5027-44W, the release leans straight into the Latverian ruler's classic aesthetic, combining charcoal plating with vivid emerald accents and light-harvesting internals.

The watch sits inside a 42.5mm stainless steel shell finished in gray ion plating, matched to a standard 20mm lug spacing. Beneath the glass, the multi-tiered dial takes its cues from Doom’s familiar metallic visage. Citizen broke up the monochrome face with applied gold-tone indices, luminous hands, and an outer minute track that transitions from green to muted gray. Flip the case over, and you find an engraving of the character's insignia across the steel back.

Driving the hands is Citizen’s J810 Eco-Drive caliber. Like the rest of the company's solar hardware, it pulls runtime from both ambient indoor lighting and raw sunshine, so you never need to crack the case open for an ordinary battery swap. It handles core timekeeping duties simply, offering three central hands alongside a date complication set at the edge of the dial.

Dial Details and Durability

Fastened to the lugs is a textured green leather band accented by side stitching, mimicking Doom's hooded tunic from the comics. The package ships in a themed presentation case packed with a double-sided commemorative coin.

At $495, some of the exterior material choices may raise eyebrows among watch collectors. Citizen opted for an ordinary mineral crystal over the face rather than scratch-resistant synthetic sapphire, which is frequently standard equipment on timepieces brushing the half-thousand-dollar mark. Mineral glass survives hard knocks without shattering easily, but it picks up surface scuffs far quicker over years of daily wear.

Moisture protection, at least, is robust. Citizen gave the case a WR100 rating, which equates to 10 bars or 333 feet of water resistance. That is plenty of headroom for swimming, surface snorkeling, or surviving an unexpected downpour without worrying about internal fogging.

The AW5027-44W is available immediately through Citizen's US website.
