Demon's Souls Remake can now clear 60 frames per second on PC hardware through PlayStation 5 emulation. A demonstration posted by YouTube channel Geralt Benchmarks shows the Bluepoint Games remake running on a system equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 and an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, using a custom fork of the KyTyPS5 emulator.

Weeks ago, that sort of performance was impossible. Early tests on an RTX 5090 rig failed to hold five frames per second before the software crossed the 30 fps threshold in September. The latest demonstration relies on developer chenxiao07's experimental KyTyPS5 fork, tagged version v20261017, which integrates Nvidia DLSS Frame Generation.

With frame generation engaged at 2X, the software nearly touches 120 fps during gameplay. But raw rendering tells the more grounded story: native 1440p with standard PS5 visual presets holds above 60 fps without synthetic frames inserted between draws. The showcase also demonstrates 1080p resolution paired with DLAA, both with and without Nvidia's interpolation active.

Limits and rough edges

Nobody should mistake this build for a finished PC port. Frame pacing remains erratic, and severe stutter interrupts action as the emulator handles asset streaming and shader compilation. Frame generation can smooth visual motion on high-refresh panels, yet it does not eliminate underlying frame drops or input lag.

Resolution caps also remain tight. KyTyPS5 currently tops out at 1440p, and DLSS Super Resolution does not work yet. Players cannot lean on upscaling to lighten the load on weaker graphics cards. Every pixel rendered still draws at full resolution before post-processing or frame creation takes over.

Demon's Souls is not alone on this path. Similar experimental builds have recently pushed Astro Bot into playable territory on PC, driven by community reverse-engineering efforts that increasingly lean on coding tools and automated decompilation workflows.

Sony has said nothing about the progress made by KyTyPS5 or other PS5 emulation projects. With the publisher pulling back from concurrent single-player PC ports of its console catalog, unofficial software development is moving fast to bridge that gap on its own. For now, chenxiao07's fork continues to iterate on GitHub as contributors tackle frame pacing and upscaler integration.
