Disney Plus is raising subscription rates across every tier in the United Kingdom, hitting standard ad-free viewers with the steepest percentage jump.
New subscribers must pay the higher rates immediately. The cheapest option, Standard with Ads, now costs £6.99 a month, up from £5.99. The ad-free Standard plan climbs by £2, rising from £9.99 to £11.99 monthly. Meanwhile, the top-tier Premium plan increases by £1, moving from £14.99 to £15.99 each month.
Annual billing cycles reflect the same shift. Paying for twelve months of Standard upfront will now cost £119.90, up from £99.90. An annual Premium subscription moves from £149.90 to £159.90.
Because Disney tacked £2 onto the monthly Standard plan while bumping Premium by just £1, the pricing spread between mid-tier and high-tier streaming has tightened considerably. Premium remains the only tier on Disney Plus that includes 4K playback with HDR video alongside Dolby Atmos audio tracks. Previously, upgrading from Standard to Premium required a £5 monthly leap. Under the revised pricing, that gap shrinks to £4 each month.
Existing subscribers get a short reprieve before their bills go up. Those paying month to month will see the price revision take effect on November 18. Anyone currently on an annual contract won't see higher bills until renewal dates on or after December 2, giving long-term members several weeks to decide whether to cancel or downgrade.
Alongside the price hikes, Disney rolled out an introductory six-month discount aimed at new subscribers and qualifying returning accounts. Under that promotional deal, monthly pricing temporarily rolls back to earlier figures: Standard with Ads costs £5.99, ad-free Standard drops to £9.99, and Premium runs £11.99. Once the promotional six months finish, the billing shifts back up to the revised ongoing rates.
Disney left its account-sharing fees untouched amid the wider price increases. Adding an Extra Member slot continues to cost £4.99 a month for customers subscribed to the ad-supported tier, and £5.99 monthly for those on Standard or Premium packages.
The adjustments mark another chapter in a steady stream of rate increases from Disney, which has nudged up fees regularly since 2020. Disney is hardly alone in squeezing more money out of British viewers. Netflix recently bumped the price of its top-end Premium tier in the UK from £18.99 to £20.99 per month. But with subscription costs climbing across the board, consumers face tough choices about which streaming apps to keep. For Disney Plus members across Britain, the higher bills land as early as next month.
