Forza Horizon 6 has pulled in $579.2 million in gross revenue across 8.8 million unit sales, according to market estimates published Wednesday by Alinea Analytics. Those figures comfortably position Playground Games' open-world racer as the top-earning first-party video game release of 2026 across Microsoft and Sony.
Xbox hardware and subscriptions drove the bulk of that cash. Alinea estimates that 56.7 percent of the game's revenue originated within the Xbox ecosystem rather than on Steam. Around 1.3 million players opted to buy the Game Pass upgrade bundle, while more than 10 million Game Pass subscribers played the title through their monthly catalog access.
That total gives Microsoft a sizable runway before the racer expands onto rival hardware. Forza Horizon 6 lands on the PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027, alongside its first Premium Expansion and an accompanying free base update. Alinea projects that the impending multiplatform arrival will let the title easily overtake Gran Turismo 7, which currently sits at roughly $834 million in lifetime revenue, though beating its predecessor's $1 billion-plus total will take longer.
Wolverine and Baseball Trail Behind
Sony's biggest 2026 earner sits in a distant second place. Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine has booked roughly $193 million from 2.5 million sales in its first month. Despite vocal online skepticism prior to launch, Alinea noted the title has outpaced every PS5 exclusive released since 2023's Marvel's Spider-Man 2, maintaining a 4.7-star rating on the PlayStation Store.
Wolverine is closely chased by San Diego Studio's multiplatform release MLB The Show 26, which posted $192.7 million. That baseball franchise surged 25 percent over its prior edition. Interestingly, Xbox players accounted for 48 percent of that revenue, securing nearly half the haul despite Sony owning the studio and commanding a much larger console install base.
Mixed Bag Across Both Ranks
The rest of the first-party leaderboard drops off steeply. Halo: Campaign Evolved, recently shifted away from Halo Studios to Activision, produced $86.5 million. The PS5 version carried 46.5 percent of that total, whereas Steam accounted for just 12.2 percent.
Bungie's Marathon generated $61 million across 1.7 million copies on PC, PS5, and Xbox. Steam accounted for the largest share of Bungie's revenue, but daily active counts hover near 50,000 players across all systems. Bungie has slated a Nightfall Refresh for later this month and a Symbiosis drop in December to steady engagement.
Farther down, Arc System Works and Marvel's fighting entry, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, reached $51.6 million across 800,000 purchases. Performance problems on PC pushed 82 percent of that gross to PS5.
Gears of War: E-Day recorded $42.1 million across 311,000 unit sales, with 210,000 on Steam and 101,000 on Xbox. Housemarque's Saros rounded out the bottom of the list at $40.4 million on 521,000 copies, capped by Sony's policy shift halting PC ports for its single-player games.
