Securing capital remains one of the toughest hurdles across independent video game development. Next up on the industry calendar, the Game Republic Investment Summit will take over Capital Suite Room 1 at ExCeL London later this month, setting up shop directly inside MCM Comic Con.
The afternoon session runs from 12:30pm until 5:30pm, assembling developers, publishers, and venture backers under one roof. Five distinct sessions will divide the schedule, concentrating on practical studio economics: landing initial project funding, managing production pipelines, setting up sustainable business structures, and holding onto long-term value when launching fresh intellectual property.
From 4:00pm to 4:45pm, an investor panel takes the stage, moderated by Jon Hicks, editorial director at GamesIndustry.biz. The discussion features Transcend Fund partner Lirui Ding, Creative UK investment manager Nick Cavander, Steel City Interactive founder Ash Habib, and Curran Games Agency head Cassia Curran. Their conversation will walk through how financiers evaluate pitches in today's cautious funding market and what early-stage teams need to demonstrate before checks get written.
