Gboard Rambler learns your corrections

Gboard’s Rambler voice typing is getting smarter — but only on Pixel phones, and only by remembering your corrections and contacts.

Google is adding adaptive learning to Gboard’s Rambler voice typing — but only on Pixel phones, for now. The update will let Rambler remember words users correct during dictation and pull names from contacts to improve accuracy. It’s not live yet, but Android Authority found the feature buried in Gboard version 18.6.3.10 beta, spotted last week.

No rollout date has been announced. Rambler remains exclusive to Pixel devices running Android 15 or later, meaning it won’t appear on Samsung, OnePlus, or even stock Android phones outside Google’s hardware line. The change isn’t about new AI models or faster processing. It’s a narrow but meaningful tweak: two new toggles in Gboard settings, one for “remember corrected words”, another for “use contact names”, plus an exportable personal vocabulary list.

Users can already add custom words manually. This just automates part of that process. That vocabulary list? It’s visible and editable in Gboard settings, and yes, you can export it as a file.

That’s unusual for a keyboard feature, and hints at future interoperability or backup options. But Google hasn’t said whether that export will sync across devices or work with third-party keyboards. No pricing or regional availability applies, Gboard is free, and Rambler is a built-in Pixel feature. In India, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold starts at Rs 1,59,999.

In the US, the Pixel 9 Pro is $999. Neither price includes early access to Rambler upgrades, they’re bundled with the device. This isn’t a broad Android platform change. It’s a Pixel-first refinement, one that makes voice typing slightly more personal, slightly less repetitive.

And it arrives while Google tightens enforcement of Android developer registration across all app distribution channels, including sideloaded APKs and F-Droid apps, a move drawing scrutiny from EU banks and privacy advocates. The timing isn’t coincidental. One hand polishes the keyboard. The other locks the door.

Gboard’s Rambler update is expected to land in a stable Gboard release before the end of 2026, but only on Pixel phones. No word yet on whether it’ll ever reach non-Pixel Android.
