Gemini Spark now organizes Mac Downloads folders by project and content — not just file type, after a single prompt. Android Police tested the feature on macOS and found it grouped client-related PDFs, Word docs, and notes into one folder. Collected Meta Music Library tracks into another. And asked just one clarifying question: “Organize by project and workflow, or by file type?” It then executed the task locally, without uploading files to the cloud.
No new app, no beta sign-up: this works today in the existing Gemini Mac app, which launched earlier this year as a desktop companion to the web and Android versions. The feature isn’t branded separately, it’s part of Gemini Spark, Google’s real-time, multimodal assistant layer built into Gemini 2.5 Pro.
It runs on-device for file access, with processing split between Mac silicon and Google’s servers depending on task complexity. Android Police didn’t test Windows or Linux, and Google hasn’t announced cross-platform rollout. The scheduling function, set to auto-clean Downloads every weekend, is also live in the Mac app. No price change: Gemini remains free to use, with optional Gemini Advanced ($19.99/month) for higher-tier models and longer context.
