Google Maps on Android Auto is failing for Pixel 11 owners — freezing, stuttering, and collapsing into pixelated black static across wired and wireless connections. The issue affects the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL. It’s not a cable problem. It’s not a car head unit incompatibility. And it’s not fixed by clearing app data, swapping cables, or reinstalling Maps. Users on Reddit and Android Auto community forums confirm the same symptoms: maps vanish behind visual noise while other Android Auto apps, like YouTube Music. Run normally. Google has acknowledged the bug and is developing a software patch. No timeline or version number has been shared. No workaround is officially supported. A beta version of Maps offered marginal improvement for some, but not stability. This is a regression: earlier Pixel models don’t show the same behaviour with Android Auto. The problem surfaced after the Pixel 11 launch and appears tied to how the new devices handle Maps rendering over the Android Auto protocol, not to Maps itself, since non-Pixel Android phones using the same Maps version work fine in the same cars. Google Maps remains fully functional on the Pixel 11’s own screen. The failure is isolated to the Android Auto projection layer. Google says it’s escalated reports and is collecting diagnostics from affected users. A fix is pending.
