Google has launched the Pixel 11 Pro XL at $1,299 in the US and ₹1,14,999 in India — matching the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s price while delivering a camera system that reviewers call dependable, not dominant. The phone arrives with upgraded sensors, a new Tensor G6 chip, and AI-powered photo tools like Magic Capture, but no major redesign, no battery upgrade, and no leap in video capability over rivals from Apple, Oppo, Vivo, or Xiaomi.
It’s the same flat aluminum-and-glass slab, same horizontal camera bar, same IP68 rating, now in Olive, Canyon, Fog, and Obsidian. Weight is 226g. Thickness: 8.5mm. Display: 6.8-inch LTPO OLED, 1344 × 2992, 1–120Hz refresh.
And yes, the temperature sensor is gone, replaced by HiLight, a ring of colored LEDs around the flash for notifications and Gemini status cues. The base model ships with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM, down from 16GB on last year’s Pro XL, and starts at $1,299 / £1,279 / €1,399 / AU$2,099.
In India, Google priced it at ₹1,14,999 for the same configuration. No 128GB option remains. The smaller Pixel 11 Pro shares identical camera hardware. Main camera: 50MP, f/1.68, 1/1.3-inch sensor.
Telephoto: 48MP, 5x optical (105mm equivalent), f/2.8, OIS. Ultra-wide: 48MP, 12mm, f/1.7. Front-facing: 42MP, 17mm, f/2.2. Video tops out at native 4K60 or 8K30 via Video Boost. 10-bit HDR support is confirmed.
Battery: 5,115mAh. Charging: up to 45W wired, 25W Pixelsnap wireless. Digital Camera World’s review calls it “perhaps the best phone for everyday photography”, but adds that consistency no longer compensates for stagnation. Video is “distinctly average.” Battery life is “disappointing for such an expensive flagship.” Hardware upgrades over the Pixel 10 Pro XL are “relatively modest.” And while Google touts its computational photography legacy, Chinese OEMs now ship larger sensors, multi-tier telephoto stacks, and branded optics, all at or below the Pixel 11 Pro XL’s price.
Apple, meanwhile, continues to lead in video fidelity and ecosystem integration. So what changes? Not the camera bar. Not the weight.
Not the charging speed. What changes is the price, and the expectation. Google is now asking users to pay top-tier dollars for software polish, not hardware ambition. The Pixel 11 Pro XL goes on sale globally this week.
Pre-orders opened Monday. Shipments begin Friday.
