Google’s Pixel 11 Rambler feature — the voice-typing tool that cuts filler words and auto-corrects misstatements in real time, is no longer exclusive to Pixel phones. It’s now available on any Android device, via an unofficial mod called PixelBoard. The APK dropped on GitHub this week, letting users sideload a modified Gboard with Rambler baked in, even on phones that don’t support it natively.
Like last year’s Pixel 10 or a Galaxy S25. No root required. No Pixel hardware needed. Just manual installation and a willingness to accept the trade-offs.
And those trade-offs are real: PixelBoard isn’t on the Play Store, doesn’t auto-update, and runs outside Google’s security sandbox. Its own documentation warns of “potential privacy and compatibility risks.” It also doesn’t replace Gboard, it sits alongside it as a separate keyboard app. So you’ll need to switch input methods manually in Settings > System > Languages & input > Virtual keyboard.
That’s the cost of getting Gemini-powered speech cleanup without buying a new phone. Rambler itself works across multiple languages, unlike Microsoft SwiftKey’s competing AI Voice mode. Which launched in Beta 9.13.16.4 and processes audio entirely on-device, but only supports English. SwiftKey’s privacy-first approach is a direct counterpoint to how Rambler operates: Google’s version sends voice snippets to its servers for processing.
Apple’s iOS 27 Dictation does something similar, scrubbing ‘um’ and ‘uh’. But only on iPhone 15 Pro and newer, and lacks Rambler’s live correction logic. It needs a second pass through Proofread to fix repeats or stumbles. So if you’re on Android and want Rambler now, your options are narrow: install PixelBoard from GitHub (last updated October 18), wait for Google to roll it out officially, which it hasn’t announced.
Or switch to SwiftKey Beta and accept English-only support. There’s no official timeline for wider Rambler availability. Google confirmed the feature shipped with the Pixel 11 series in August 2026. It has not said when, or if, it will expand beyond Pixel.
The Pixel 11 Pro starts at $999 in the US. The base Pixel 11 is $799. In India, they launch at ₹89,999 and ₹79,999 respectively. Neither price includes access to Rambler for non-Pixel users, unless you sideload.
