Nintendo Switch 2 won’t get GTA 6 at launch — and Nintendo isn’t saying whether it ever will. The game arrives November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. No PC version is confirmed, and no Switch 2 release date exists. Not even a maybe. Just silence, and a deflection. When asked directly by Variety, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard declined to confirm or deny a Switch 2 port. Her reply: “That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.” She did not say ‘no’. She did not say ‘not planned’. She said ‘ask Rockstar’. Which is exactly what everyone now has to do. Rockstar hasn’t spoken publicly since that May 2025 report from NateTheHate. Who clarified his own leak: Rockstar tested GTA 6 on Switch 2 hardware, but testing ≠ planning. It’s standard pre-launch feasibility work, not a green light. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said only that the company sees ‘a great opportunity’ to bring some of its older titles to Switch 2, not GTA 6. He also called himself ‘a big believer’ in the console. That’s optimism, not commitment. GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition runs on Switch 2 today, as does the 2009 DS title Chinatown Wars. But those are remasters and legacy ports. GTA 6 is built for 16GB RAM, SSD streaming, and real-time ray tracing. The Switch 2’s specs remain unannounced. Its GPU, memory bandwidth, and thermal ceiling are unknown. So is its price: $349.99 in the US, ₹39,999 in India. But no official launch date beyond ‘Holiday 2026’. Rockstar’s November 19 release locks in the first window. If GTA 6 ever lands on Switch 2, it won’t be before then. And if it does, it’ll be a heavily scaled-back version, or a cloud-streamed one. Neither has been hinted at. For now, the answer remains what it’s always been: ask Rockstar.
