Apple’s HomePod mini 2 is confirmed for launch on Friday, October 30 — two weeks after its October 13 unveiling at the “Welcome home” event in New York. The new model swaps the S5 chip of the original for the S10 chip from the Apple Watch Series 10, marking the first time a HomePod has used a watch-class silicon.
It arrives in five colors: green, pink, blue, white, and midnight, expanding beyond the current mini’s palette but dropping the yellow and orange options seen in earlier generations. No price is disclosed in the leak, but given the unchanged form factor and positioning, it’s expected to retain the $99 US / Rs 79,999 India entry point of the first-gen model.
That assumption holds unless Apple surprises with a premium bump. Something Gurman’s leak does not hint at. The HomePod mini 2 shares its launch date with the new Apple TV 4K, which also debuts October 30. That model upgrades to an A19 chip with 8GB of RAM and may include built-in microphones for always-on Siri AI, a shift from relying solely on the Siri Remote.
The remote itself gets a speaker, likely to help users locate it by voice command. Neither device gains new physical dimensions or major design overhauls. Instead, Apple is layering intelligence: Siri AI is now explicitly called out as a core feature across all three leaked products. HomeView, HomePod mini 2, and Apple TV 4K.
HomeView, the new smart home hub, anchors the rollout. It runs on an A18 chip (same as the iPhone 16 Pro) with 8GB of RAM, supports touch input, and ships in tabletop and wall-mounted versions. The tabletop unit includes a metal speaker base and promises better sound than the HomePod mini.
It comes in four finishes: Gray, Silver, Starlight, and Rose. The wall version drops Starlight and Rose. HomeView launches later, “around mid-November”. And won’t support third-party apps.
Its software suite is limited to Apple-developed apps only. LG and Schneider Electric are co-developing accessories under the “Apple Home Collection”, including a doorbell, deadbolt, thermostat, temperature sensor, indoor/outdoor cameras, and a floodlight camera. LG’s devices won’t ship until “later this year at the earliest.” The HomePod mini 2 isn’t a standalone upgrade.
It’s part of a coordinated push into ambient, multi-device home control, one where voice, touch, and context-aware AI converge across hubs, speakers, and streaming boxes. That strategy starts with hardware shipping October 30. Pre-orders open October 13.
