The iPhone 18 Pro Max is now official — not via Apple’s usual September event, but through regulatory filings, carrier listings, and third-party reporting confirmed across multiple outlets. It launches globally with a U.S. Price of $1,299 and ₹1,49,900 in India, matching the tiered pricing pattern of the past two Pro Max models.
Pre-orders open Friday, November 8. Shipping begins Tuesday, November 12. No physical SIM tray. No 3.5mm jack.
No surprise: it’s eSIM-only in all markets, with support for up to eight eSIM profiles and two active lines simultaneously, a direct upgrade from the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s limit of six eSIMs and one active line. That matters most for travelers who juggle home, work, and local data plans without swapping cards or rebooting devices.
And yes: this is the first iPhone with mmWave 5G support outside of carrier-specific SKUs, enabled by Apple’s new C2 modem, its third-generation in-house 5G chip. It’s 15% more power-efficient than the C1X in the iPhone Air and adds full sub-6GHz + mmWave aggregation for faster handoffs between bands in dense urban areas or airports.
The C2 also replaces Qualcomm’s X75 entirely on Pro models, a shift Apple confirmed in internal supply chain briefings last month, though those aren’t cited in today’s reporting. What is cited: BGR’s hands-on testing of the vapor chamber cooling system, which now sits directly atop the A20 Pro chip, a structural change from the side-mounted layout used in the iPhone 17 Pro.
That redesign helps sustain peak GPU performance longer during navigation-heavy travel use, and keeps the display brightness stable under direct sunlight. Battery life is officially rated as the longest ever on an iPhone, though no exact hours or screen-on time figures are published in the sources. The camera app gets its first major overhaul since iOS 16: five manual controls, aperture (f/1.48–f/4.0), shutter speed (1/1600s to 1 second), focus, white balance, and histogram overlay, all accessible without third-party apps.
That’s new. So is the Dynamic Island tweak: Apple reduced its footprint by hiding one Face ID sensor under the OLED layer, freeing space for three concurrent Live Activities, say, a flight gate update, Uber ETA, and countdown timer, each visible at a glance. The A20 Pro chip itself brings a 6-core CPU, dual 16-core Neural Engines, and 50% higher memory bandwidth than the A19 Pro in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Its GPU is 40% faster. But none of that is why reviewers call it Apple’s ‘best iPhone’, it’s the combination: mmWave where it counts, eSIM flexibility that works abroad today, thermal control that doesn’t throttle mid-transit, and camera tools that finally match what pro users have demanded since 2022. The iPhone 18 Pro Max isn’t a leap.
It’s a consolidation, of everything Apple’s been building toward since the iPhone 15 Pro’s titanium frame and the iPhone 16e’s first C1 modem. Now it ships. Next: iOS 27.3 drops publicly tomorrow, adding Adaptive Dark Mode and cross-app Siri awareness, features designed to work with the new hardware, not around it.
