Apple has not announced an iPhone 18. It has not unveiled, priced, or scheduled one. What exists today is the iPhone 17 — launched in September 2025, and the iPhone 18 Pro series, which Apple did launch in India last month. The so-called 'iPhone 18' is a rumour. A persistent, detailed, increasingly specific rumour. But still unconfirmed, unannounced, and unsold. Yet it’s already shaping how people shop for iPhones in India right now. And that matters more than you’d think. So if you’re searching for 'iPhone 18 Pro' or 'iPhone 17 price', here’s what’s real, what’s speculated, and what’s already moving in stores. The iPhone 17 starts at Rs 99,900 in India. That’s the official, post-iPhone 18 Pro launch price, up from its original launch figure. But it’s also already discounted: Rs 81,990 on Flipkart during Big Billion Days, and as low as Rs 76,990 at Reliance Digital with ongoing offers. That’s nearly Rs 23,000 off the current MRP. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 remains entirely speculative. No event date, no official teaser, no regulatory filing cited. Digit reports it’s expected to launch in March or April 2027, likely alongside an iPhone Air 2 and iPhone 18e. Its specs are all leaks: a 6.3-inch display (possibly downgraded, possibly sharing parts with the 18e), an A20 chip on 2nm silicon, 9GB or 12GB RAM (up from the 17’s 8GB), a 24MP selfie camera (up from 18MP), a pressure-sensitive Camera Control button, and Apple’s in-house C2 modem instead of Qualcomm’s. Price? Digit says ‘over Rs 1 lakh’, likely between Rs 1.1 lakh and Rs 1.2 lakh in India. That would mark a steep jump, roughly 10–20% higher than the iPhone 17’s current starting price. Why does this matter now? Because Apple’s pricing pattern is shifting. The vanilla iPhone 17 got a mid-cycle hike after the Pro models dropped. A break from past practice. Buyers weighing a purchase today aren’t just comparing specs. They’re weighing whether to pay Rs 77,000 for a discounted 17, or wait six months for a device that may cost Rs 1.15 lakh, offer marginal upgrades, and arrive without the carrier deals or festival discounts that currently soften the blow. There’s no iPhone 18. Not yet. But the rumour is already pricing in, and pricing out. Real decisions for Indian buyers.
