IQOO India chief executive Nipun Marya has published a teaser on X suggesting that the brand's next top-tier phone is preparing for an Indian release. The post mimicked a database query, displaying "A query is running..." alongside "Find the next flagship", a "stay_tuned" status flag, and a counter confirming "1 result found". While Marya did not name the device outright, the timing points directly to the iQOO 16 following its September 2026 debut in China.

The handset has already entered testing in India, according to earlier reports. That schedule suggests an official release window between December 2026 and early 2027. IQOO has not formally confirmed an exact date or region-specific configurations, but the promotional cycle is now active.

Cost will determine where it lands against the competition. The device is expected to sell below Rs 1,00,000 in India. For context, the previous-generation iQOO 15 arrived on store shelves at a starting price of Rs 85,999. If the manufacturer sticks to that pricing strategy, the new phone will undercut conventional ultra-premium rivals while staying firmly inside the enthusiast performance category.

Under the hood, the hardware leans heavily into gaming and high-refresh workloads. The device runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, supported by a proprietary Q4 gaming coprocessor. Out front, it sports a 6.85-inch 2K+ LTPO AMOLED panel manufactured with M16 materials, capable of running up to 165Hz. Peak local brightness reaches an advertised 10,000 nits.

The battery capacity is the most striking internal figure. The iQOO 16 carries an 8,400mAh battery, a size well beyond typical flagship norms. To fill that tank, the phone supports 100W wired charging along with 40W wireless charging. Software runs on OriginOS 7, built on top of Android 17.

Camera hardware gets a uniform resolution across all three rear focal lengths. The setup includes a 50-megapixel optically stabilised primary camera, paired with a 50-megapixel ultrawide shooter and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens capable of 3x zoom. Selfies and video calls are handled by a 32-megapixel front-facing sensor.

With the first teaser out in the open, expect iQOO to share regional launch details and memory options over the next few weeks.
