Digitising physical paperwork with a smartphone usually turns into a chore of bad angles and manual cropping. Document scanning software iScanner was listed at $24.97 for a lifetime subscription when Macworld reported the discount on October 9, 2026, marking a drop from its regular $199.90 price tag. The promotion was scheduled to run through October 11.
The utility targets iPhone and iPad users alongside Android hardware, serving as an all-in-one document digitiser and PDF editing tool. Rather than forcing people to rely on dedicated flatbed hardware, it relies on the phone camera to grab scans of receipts, forms, and contracts.
When framed over a sheet of paper, the mobile application detects paper boundaries without user intervention and crops out background clutter. Skewed camera angles and curved pages from thick books get flattened through automatic perspective correction. That saves people from having to press pages down flat against a table while trying to take a steady photograph.
Optical character recognition is built into the service, covering text recognition in more than 20 languages. Users can pull text directly off a captured page to paste elsewhere rather than typing out every line by hand. Once processed, documents can be exported into several standard formats beyond basic PDFs, including DOC, JPG, XLS, PPT, and plain TXT files.
The software keeps adjustments inside the application rather than requiring secondary PDF programs. Users can complete and fill out forms on glass, add digital signatures, or merge several individual pages into a single cohesive document. For security before emailing sensitive paperwork, the editor includes tools to blur out private data such as bank account numbers.
File organisation relies on internal folders, and users can set up a PIN code to restrict access to sensitive scans stored on the device. Beyond standard paperwork, iScanner includes dedicated scanning profiles tailored for passports and identity cards. The application also bundles functional utilities to read QR codes, measure physical dimensions of real-world objects, and calculate solutions for math equations.
The discounted lifetime licence was available through October 11, after which pricing was slated to return to its usual $199.90 tier.
