Apple has confirmed a new event for October 28, 2026, at 10 a.m. PT in Los Angeles — branded “Pro and tell”, with strong indications that it will unveil the first touchscreen MacBook Pro models, ending over a decade of firm public resistance to touch on Mac laptops. The teaser, posted by SVP Greg Joswiak on X and @HelloApple on Instagram, shows an Apple logo drawn in real time using what appears to be a finger or fine brush, with silver, white, and blue tones punctuated by red, orange, and yellow accents.
Apple used identical ‘experience’ language for its recent HomeView and HomePod mini 2 launch. Meaning no formal keynote, but hands-on access for media and analysts. The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are tipped to arrive with OLED displays and capacitive touch support, a first for any Mac notebook. That would bring them in line with the iPad Pro’s display quality, though macOS has never supported touch-first interaction.
No official confirmation of software changes. Like gesture integration or UI adaptation, has been made. Under the hood, both models are expected to ship with either the M6 chip or the M5 Ultra, the latter having debuted in the Mac mini and Mac Studio in August 2026. A new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is also rumored, likely carrying the M6 instead of the M5 for improved AI performance across the board.
