Retailers are already discounting the Nintendo Switch 2 weeks before Black Friday, and Tom's Guide has rounded up what's actually worth buying right now.
The standalone Nintendo Switch 2 is listed at $499 at Best Buy, the console's standard price following a hike Nintendo made to the Switch 2 line earlier this year. Nintendo has not detailed the exact size of that increase, but the bundles below show what shoppers lost and what they're getting back through discounts.
For anyone buying their first console, Amazon has a Nintendo Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World and a 3-month Nintendo Switch Online membership for $549, a $37 saving over buying each piece on its own. Before the price hike, the same bundle sold for $499. A second bundle pairs the console with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and the same 3-month membership for $529, a $27 saving, and it's available to pre-order ahead of its October 22 release.
Accessory prices have also come down. Amazon is taking 10% off the 8BitDo Pro 3, a controller with swappable ABXY buttons, arcade-style ball-top joystick caps and a claimed 20 hours of play from its 1,000 mAh battery. It works across PC, Xbox, Switch, Switch 2, and Apple and Android devices. The 8BitDo Ultimate 2, which adds hall-effect triggers and a built-in charging dock, is also discounted and compatible with the Switch, Switch 2 and PC.
For storage, Tom's Guide points to a 128GB microSD Express Card compatible with the Switch 2, useful since the console's digital games tend to run large. On the carrying side, a Jsaux case holds 40 game cards plus microSD cards for anyone tired of the oversized official cases, and a $16 slim case with a Mario-themed design doubles as a tabletop stand. One accessory to skip pairing with a new console: the PowerA Joy-Con Charging Dock charges two sets of original Joy-Con at once but isn't compatible with the redesigned Joy-Con 2 controllers that ship with the Switch 2.
Game discounts round out the list, with Super Mario RPG, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Madden NFL 27, Sonic Superstars and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 all turning up in the sale. Bigger releases are still ahead of shoppers rather than behind them. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Resident Evil Requiem and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are all coming to the platform, and a remastered MIO: Memories in Orbit is already out for anyone after something smaller in scope.
Expect more of these prices to move as Black Friday itself approaches in November, with retailers typically layering extra discounts onto bundles in the final weeks before the holiday. Anyone eyeing the Switch Sports Resort bundle in particular will want to lock in a pre-order before the October 22 release date passes.
