Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches on the Switch 2 on October 22nd — priced at $59.99 in the US and Rs 4,999 in India. It is not a remaster or rebrand. It is the first full sequel in the Nintendo Switch Sports line, built from the ground up for the Switch 2 hardware, and it arrives with 12 sports, an open-world island setting, and motion controls that rely entirely on Joy-Con gestures, no new peripherals required.
The game includes tennis, bowling, golf, basketball, table tennis, and thumb wrestling, all returning from earlier entries, plus three new activities tied to exploration: prop plane flying, power cruising (Jet Ski-style), and skateboarding. Each uses Joy-Con in distinct ways: holding one like a paper airplane, gripping two horizontally like handlebars, or using mouse-like tilt controls to steer a tiny board.
The island isn’t just scenery. It’s explorable in real time, with caves, hidden paths, landmarks, and collectibles that unlock character customisation, clothes, accessories, emotes. Sightseeing mode gives players five minutes to find as many secrets as possible. Competitive variants include skateboard races and aerial time trials.
