Oppo has launched a new version of its compact Android tablet in India, the Pad Mini Matte Display Edition, with a listed price of ₹94,999 (about $1,003) on the company's online store. That's well above the ₹79,999 figure (about $847) that circulated in reports before launch, and Oppo hasn't explained the jump.
The tablet is a variant of the Pad Mini that Oppo announced on October 14, built around the same 8.8-inch AMOLED screen but swapping the glossy finish for a matte surface meant to cut reflections and give a paper-like feel when using a stylus. Resolution comes in at 2,520 x 1,680 pixels, working out to 344 pixels per inch, with an adaptive refresh rate that tops out at 144Hz and peak local brightness Oppo rates at 3,200 nits.
That puts it up against two similarly sized rivals that both go glossy and push refresh rates higher. Lenovo's Legion Tab (Gen 3) uses the same 8.8-inch panel size but runs at 165Hz, and the RedMagic Astra carries a larger 9.06-inch glossy OLED screen also capped at 165Hz. Oppo is betting a matte screen matters more to some buyers than those extra frames.
Spec sheet and configuration
Inside, the Pad Mini runs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. That's the only configuration Oppo is selling outside China for now. Buyers in China get an additional option with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, a gap that international shoppers wanting more memory will simply have to live with.
Battery capacity is 8,000mAh with support for 67W wired charging. The tablet has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, runs ColorOS 16, and supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Its USB-C port sticks to USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds rather than anything faster.
Oppo's Indian listing puts the tablet at 194.4 x 132.4 x 5.5mm and 279g. The Malaysian listing shows marginally different figures of 194.38 x 132.38 x 5.46mm and 282g. Both markets get the tablet in a single color, Lavender Purple.
Pricing and availability
Beyond India, Oppo is selling the tablet in Malaysia at RM3,499 (about $857). Preorders opened October 22 and run through October 29, 2026, with deliveries and in-store pickups scheduled to begin October 30, subject to availability.
Oppo is throwing in a Smart Case and a stylus as free gifts with preorders. The Indian store lists their standalone value at ₹3,999 (about $42) for the case and ₹7,999 (about $84) for the stylus. Malaysia's listings put the same accessories at RM199 (about $49) and RM299 (about $73). Oppo describes these as the listed values of the gifts rather than separate charges when bundled with the tablet.
Whether the Matte Display Edition reaches the US isn't addressed in current listings, which so far cover only India and Malaysia.
