Star Ring’s Tesla ambient light kit brings Philips Hue–style effects to Model 3 and Model Y interiors — no hub, no bulbs, just a $509 DIY kit launching via Kickstarter. It’s not Philips Hue. It doesn’t use Hue bridges or Zigbee. But it does replicate the core experience: dynamic, app-controlled, zone-based ambient lighting with music sync and safety alerts, all built for Tesla’s cabin architecture.

The kit ships January 2027. Preorders are live at the $509 Super Early Bird tier for either Model 3 or Model Y. No price is listed for both models together. No US or Indian pricing beyond that figure is given. So $509 is the only confirmed number, and it applies to the full 360° system.

Buyers aren’t forced to install every strip. They can light just the footwells, just the door sills, or just the overhead console, each zone is independent. The strips wrap in leather to match Tesla’s OEM interior finishes. That includes the Model Y’s optional black-and-tan trim and the Model 3’s matte carbon fiber dash inserts.

Synced effects go beyond static color: Rhythmic Beam pulses to audio input from the car’s Bluetooth or AUX source. Blind Spot and Door Ajar warnings trigger distinct light patterns. Amber pulse on the relevant side mirror pillar, red flash along the corresponding door sill. The app enables custom scenes, schedules, and firmware updates.

Star Ring says new features will roll out post-launch. There’s no mention of Matter or Thread support. No integration with existing Hue ecosystems. No voice control via Alexa or Google Assistant.

Just a standalone, Tesla-specific ambient layer, one that leans hard into Hue’s visual language without touching its infrastructure. Philips Hue Essential light strips. Referenced in the source as a room-lighting alternative, remain separate: sold on Amazon, priced separately, and unrelated to this kit. This isn’t a Philips Hue product.

It’s a third-party ambient lighting play targeting Tesla owners who want Hue-like flexibility inside their cars. And it arrives, if funded, in January 2027.
