A PlayStation Network account was banned after a user shared leaked Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay footage via the PS App’s messaging feature, according to a Reddit post cited by Notebookcheck. The incident — reported by Redditor Silver-Succotash-612 on the r/GTA6unmoderated subreddit, describes a friend sending what appears to be Cyberleek-sourced footage to a single contact.
Within minutes, the account was frozen. Sony support told them an appeal would take three months. No public statement from Sony or Rockstar confirms the ban, and no details about the video’s length, resolution, or origin were verified by Notebookcheck or any other outlet. But the report aligns with broader enforcement activity: Take-Two and Rockstar have filed multiple DMCA takedowns against GTA 6 leaks across social media since late October 2026.
And Sony has quietly expanded automated content monitoring in its apps, most with Nudge, a March 2025 tool that scans messages for policy violations in real time. Unlike past moderation, which relied on user reports, this case suggests proactive detection inside private chats. That’s new. And it matters, not because of one account, but because PS App messaging is used by tens of millions for voice notes, screenshots, and short clips.
