Samsung is preparing to split its top tier into two distinct devices. Regulatory filings and supply chain leaks show the upcoming Galaxy S27 family will grow to four models, slotting a fresh Galaxy S27 Pro directly beneath the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
The shakeup gives buyers who want top-end optics a smaller footprint without forcing them into a giant chassis. Certification records from China's 3C database and an earlier appearance in the GSMA database reveal both devices have moved through testing earlier than the Galaxy S26 generation did, pointing toward a possible January 2027 rollout.
Shared Glass and Diverging Screens
CAD renders suggest both handsets will share a design language defined by a raised rear camera plateau and flat sides. They are also slated to use Samsung's newer M16 OLED panels, alongside the viewing-angle Privacy Display feature previously restricted to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Both devices list 60W wired charging in 3C certification records, alongside standard wireless charging support. Do not expect a charger in either box.
The split starts with sheer size. Leaks assign the Galaxy S27 Pro a 6.47-inch panel, while the Galaxy S27 Ultra measures roughly 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97mm. That larger frame leaves room for Samsung's embedded S Pen stylus, an accessory the Pro model reportedly drops completely. Battery capacities follow the same physical divide: certifications link a 5,200mAh cell to the Pro, whereas the Ultra climbs to 5,700mAh.
The Telephoto Puzzle and Regional Silicon
Both devices are tipped to share primary camera hardware, specifically Samsung's unannounced 200MP ISOCELL HP6 main sensor, paired with a 50MP ultrawide and a 16MP front-facing shooter. Zoom optics, however, remain a moving target.
Reporting from Korean outlet ETNews indicates the S27 Pro could arrive with a dedicated 12MP 3x optical zoom telephoto camera. A conflicting leak points instead to a 50MP sensor with roughly 3.5x zoom. The S27 Ultra might drop a dedicated 3x lens altogether, relying on sensor crops from its 200MP unit for intermediate zoom ranges. For distant subjects, Samsung is reportedly evaluating five prototypes, testing a new 50MP 4x camera built on a 1/1.9-inch sensor against its familiar 5x periscope hardware.
Processor choices look equally divided. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to rely worldwide on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 for Galaxy. The Galaxy S27 Pro, by contrast, is rumored to split regions between Snapdragon silicon and Samsung's in-house Exynos 2700 chip. Leaks also suggest the Pro caps memory at 12GB of RAM on its 1TB storage edition, trailing top Ultra configurations.
Early pricing leaks place the Galaxy S27 Pro at $1,299 in the US, with the Galaxy S27 Ultra starting at $1,399 and climbing to $1,499 in select international territories. Samsung has not confirmed launch dates or Indian market pricing. Official details will arrive once Samsung formally schedules its next Unpacked showcase.
