Woot, Amazon's discount storefront, was listing the Nintendo Switch 2 for $459 with a free digital game thrown in for new customers when Tom's Hardware reported the deal on Thursday. Returning Woot shoppers could get the same bundle for $479 using a separate discount tied to the same coupon code, SAVETOBER.
The bundle includes the console, its dock, and a pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers, Nintendo's detachable controllers that can be used docked or handheld. Buyers also get to pick a free digital game code, choosing from Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or the newer Pokémon Pokopia. Those titles normally run between $69.99 and $79.99 on their own, according to Tom's Hardware, so the game alone covers a meaningful chunk of the discount.
The underlying sale price on the console is $519, and the coupon strips off either $60 for new Woot accounts or $40 for existing ones, landing at $459 or $479. Tom's Hardware says the sale itself has four days left to run, but the coupon code is set to expire sooner, at 11:59 pm ET on November 1.
Why now matters
The timing lines up with two things squeezing Switch 2 supply. The holiday season tends to tighten stock on popular consoles anyway, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is due on the platform within days, a release Tom's Hardware expects to pull in a fresh wave of buyers. A console that's merely scarce in a normal November could get harder to find once that demand lands.
The Switch 2 itself carries a 7.9-inch, 1080p touchscreen for handheld play, and docks to a TV for output up to 4K at 120 frames per second. It ships with 256GB of internal storage, which fills up fast once you start downloading modern game libraries. Tom's Hardware also flagged a separate deal worth pairing with this one: a 512GB Samsung P9 Express microSD card, compatible with the console's expansion slot, listed at $99 at Amazon, a 34% cut from its usual price.
For anyone sitting on the fence about a second Switch, or buying a first one as a holiday gift, this is the kind of bundle that rarely survives a full sale window intact. Tom's Hardware's own advice is blunt: don't bank on a better price showing up once the Ocarina of Time launch hits and stock gets fought over. The coupon window closes Sunday night, the underlying sale a few days after that, whichever comes first for any given shopper's patience.
