Xiaomi has locked in a launch date for its next Redmi Book laptops. The company says the Redmi Book 2027 series arrives on October 27 at 7 p.m. China time, according to Notebookcheck, and the teaser campaign already gives away more than Xiaomi probably intended.

Until now, the only confirmed model was the Redmi Book 16 2027, which turned up on Geekbench days before the official announcement carrying an Intel Core 5 320 processor and 16 GB of DDR5-4800 memory. Xiaomi's own promotional material has since confirmed a second, smaller laptop in the lineup: the Redmi Book 14.

Both machines are expected to run on Intel's third-generation Wildcat Lake processors, a chip family aimed at budget and mid-range laptops. Xiaomi is pitching the new Redmi Books as productivity machines rather than gaming or creator hardware, and the teaser points to a redesigned chassis and new colour options on top of the updated internals.

One spec that has leaked out ahead of the reveal is battery size. Xiaomi's marketing references a 72 Wh battery, though it's not clear yet whether that figure applies to just the 14-inch model, the 16-inch model, or both. Notebookcheck says the remaining differences between the two screen sizes, including resolution and storage tiers, are still unannounced.

Ports are easier to pin down. The teaser shows the Redmi Book 14 keeping two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, an HDMI output and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a reasonably generous spread for a laptop this size and one that suggests Xiaomi isn't chasing the thinnest-possible design at the cost of connectivity.

What's missing is anything on price. Xiaomi hasn't said what either Redmi Book will cost, and there's no word yet on whether the series will sell outside China at all. Past Redmi Book generations have mostly stayed domestic, occasionally surfacing in select markets under different branding, so buyers in the US or India shouldn't assume these will show up on local shelves without an announcement to that effect.

That leaves the October 27 event to fill in the gaps that matter most to anyone actually shopping: display specs, RAM and storage configurations, and, critically, pricing. Wildcat Lake chips are built for value laptops, so the Redmi Book 14's eventual price tag will say a lot about where Xiaomi wants it to sit against rival ultraportables in its home market.

For now, the Geekbench leak and Xiaomi's own teasers have done most of the talking. The full picture, including whatever configurations Xiaomi settles on for the 14-inch and 16-inch models, arrives at next week's launch.
