Android Auto fails on Samsung phones with One UI 9

Google confirms a fix is live — but not yet everywhere — for Android Auto disconnects on Samsung phones running One UI 9.

Google has confirmed it’s rolling out a fix for Android Auto connection failures affecting Samsung Galaxy phones running One UI 9 — and the issue is already live for some users. The fix began deploying November 2, 2026, according to a Google spokesperson speaking to gHacks, and is expected to reach all affected devices “soon.” No patch version, app name, or exact rollout schedule was disclosed.

But drivers using Android Auto with Galaxy handsets on One UI 9 are reporting three distinct failure modes: intermittent disconnections, failure to initiate at all, and sudden dropouts mid-drive. These aren’t isolated to flagship models, reports span older and current Galaxy devices alike, from Galaxy S24 series to Galaxy A55s and beyond.

Samsung shipped One UI 9 as a major Android 15-based update, adding deeper Quick Settings customization (including resizable widgets), but this second high-visibility bug follows an earlier One UI 9 issue Samsung patched itself. This time, Google owns the fix, not Samsung. That’s unusual. Android Auto relies on tight coordination between Google’s app stack and OEM firmware, and when things break, responsibility often blurs.

Here, Google has stepped forward publicly, and quietly, to resolve it. Users can’t force the update manually. They’ll need to wait for the patch to land via Play Store or system update depending on how Google ships it. Until then, the workaround remains what it’s always been: restart the phone, toggle Bluetooth and location, re-pair the car, and hope it sticks for the next 15 minutes.

One UI 9 is still rolling out globally, so not every eligible Galaxy device has received it yet. That means some users are avoiding the update entirely, trading new features like widget resizing for stable Android Auto. Others are stuck mid-rollout: their phone got One UI 9, but Android Auto won’t talk to their car.

Google hasn’t said when the fix will be universal. It just said it’s coming.
