Apple Books is running one of its periodic sweeps of ebook and audiobook markdowns, and 9to5Toys flagged the lineup on Wednesday, October 8. Titles across history, memoir and pop science are down as much as 80 percent off their usual App Store prices, at least for as long as Apple keeps the sale live.
The cuts are specific and, as always with these rotating Apple Books promotions, temporary. '1,000 Places to See Before You Die' was listed at $3, down from $13, when 9to5Toys reported it. Its companion volume, '1,000 Places to See in the United States and Canada Before You Die,' was priced at $4 against a regular $15. '9 Things You Simply Must Do to Succeed in Love and Life' and 'A Haunted History of Pasco County' were each $3, down from $12.
A few others worth noting: 'A Monstrous Regiment of Women' was also $3 against a $12 list price. 'A Stubbornly Persistent Illusion' sat at $4, down from $15. 'Absolute Zero and the Conquest of Cold' matched the $3 price point off its usual $12. The audiobook edition of 'A Short History of World War 2: The Greatest Conflict in Human History' was going for $13, down from $18, and 'A Shiver of Light' as an audiobook was listed at $4, cut from $20.
None of these are blockbuster new releases. That's typical for Apple's book sales, which tend to surface backlist titles and older audiobooks rather than anything currently topping a bestseller list. Apple doesn't publish a schedule for when these promotions end, so anyone interested in a specific title should treat the listed price as good only for as long as it's showing in the Books app.
9to5Toys bundled the book sale alongside several hardware deals still carrying over from Prime Day. AirPods Max 2 remained $120 off at the time of the report. The M6 Mac mini was listed at up to $150 off. AirPods Pro 3 were still discounted close to 30 percent, and Apple Watch Series 12 models were being offered at what the outlet called their best prices yet. MacBook Air was also part of the same roundup of lingering post-Prime-Day cuts.
As with the book prices, none of those hardware discounts come with a stated end date from Apple or the retailers running them. They reflect pricing as of October 8, and anyone shopping should confirm the current price before checking out, since Apple's retail partners adjust these listings without much notice.
