Apple confirmed Friday that the first iOS 27.3 developer beta drops next week — November 4 in China, which means November 3 for US developers, and it carries the first Apple Intelligence features into the Chinese market. The public release follows in December, though Apple didn't name a day. The rollout lands on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and every iPhone 16 model.
Older devices stay locked out. What's actually shipping: Writing Tools for rewriting and proofreading, Genmoji creation, Clean Up for removing objects from photos, Notification Summaries, Priority Notifications, Visual Intelligence for camera-based search, and Live Translation through AirPods. Missing entirely: the overhauled Siri announced at WWDC 2026, and Image Playground. Apple's Chinese newsroom post was explicit on both omissions.
Language settings matter. Both the iPhone system language and Siri's language must be set to English or Chinese (Simplified) for the features to appear. Alibaba partnership confirmed. Apple has integrated Qwen, Alibaba's large language model, into Siri, Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence, a structure that mirrors the OpenAI ChatGPT integration that launched globally in 2024.
