Apple will refresh its smart home hardware lineup on Tuesday, October 13, with a physical event in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood — not a livestreamed keynote, but an invitation-only ‘Apple Experience’ held at Apple’s Tribeca loft space.

The event’s tagline, “Welcome home”. Signals a focus squarely on HomeKit, Matter, and ambient computing. According to PCMag, which confirmed its attendance, Apple told invitees it would share more details closer to the date. The location strongly suggests hands-on demos of new devices in a real-home setting, a format Apple has used before for intimate product briefings.

Two products are expected: a revised HomePod Mini and a new device called the HomeView Hub. Neither has been officially announced, and no specs, pricing, or availability windows have been disclosed. The HomeView Hub name appears nowhere in Apple’s public materials. It is reported solely by PCMag as part of its pre-event expectations. It is not described as a speaker, display, or camera. Its function remains unconfirmed beyond the implication of a central control point for HomeKit environments.

The HomePod Mini refresh is the more concrete expectation. Apple last updated the HomePod Mini in October 2023 with minor internal tweaks, no design change, no new chip, no major feature additions. A 2026 revision would mark its third generation and could include improved microphones, better far-field Siri responsiveness, Matter-over-Thread support baked in, or tighter integration with the upcoming iOS 27 and visionOS 4 ecosystems.

No mention was made of the full-size HomePod. Meaning this is not a ‘HomePod vs HomePod Mini’ showdown moment. Nor is it a broader ecosystem reset: Apple TV updates may be part of the event, per PCMag’s headline, but no details were offered. Likewise, no new HomeKit-certified accessories from third parties were flagged.

This event sits between two larger Apple milestones: the iPhone 18 Pro launch and the foldable iPhone Duo, which ships next week. It also precedes the rumored late-October MacBook refresh, possibly including a touchscreen model. That MacRumors says is still weeks away.

There is no indication this is a global rollout day. Apple has not confirmed whether the HomePod Mini update or HomeView Hub will ship same-day, nor whether pricing will match current tiers: $99 in the US and Rs 9,990 in India for the existing HomePod Mini.

What happens next? PCMag will publish live coverage from Tribeca on October 13. If the HomeView Hub is real, it will be Apple’s first dedicated home hub since the original HomePod was discontinued, and its clearest signal yet that Apple sees centralized, Thread-based orchestration as essential to its smart home future.
