Bose is delaying initial shipments for its new $99 Noise Canceling Wired Earbuds just days ahead of their planned release date.
Customers who preordered the earphones directly through the Bose website in the US and Canada started receiving emails stating that their packages will not make the original delivery window. The notification tells buyers that the company cannot ship or hand over the products by the promised schedule, but it stops short of providing an updated delivery date or an explanation for the holdup.
That omission has left early buyers guessing. Several affected customers on Reddit who placed orders between September 28 and September 29 say their accounts show no revised arrival window. The delays touch multiple colorways, including the black and white variants alongside the Dewdrop Mint option. One buyer who ordered the mint edition shortly after sales opened noted that the product listing repeatedly flipped between in-stock and out-of-stock statuses on the official site, with shifting estimates before preorders reopened.
Third-Party Orders Move Forward
The delivery snags do not appear to hit every retail channel equally. At least one customer who preordered through Best Buy roughly a week earlier reported an expected delivery date of Wednesday, right on track with the original schedule. Bose had slated general retail availability for the wired set to begin on October 15.
Priced at $99 in the US, the Noise Canceling Wired Earbuds mark an unexpected detour back into wired listening for a brand that spent the past decade focusing on wireless QuietComfort hardware. The pair runs on a direct USB-C connection rather than an analog 3.5mm plug, drawing power from the host phone, tablet, or laptop to run active noise cancellation.
On paper, the hardware offers Quiet and Aware modes along with support for 24-bit/48kHz lossless playback. That positions the pair as a straightforward alternative for commuters and travelers tired of managing battery levels on true wireless buds, or for listeners who want low-latency audio without dealing with Bluetooth codecs.
Bose has not said how many orders are affected or when direct deliveries will resume. The official retail launch arrives on October 15, when store shelves and retail shipments will show whether the stock problem is confined to the company's own warehouse or stretches wider.
